When you use the City of Eureka’s (“VisitEureka”) website, visit the City of Eureka’s Visitor’s Center or participate in any associated or sponsored programs, promotions, sweepstakes, games, raffles or contests, the City of Eureka and their partners may collect personally identifiable information via “cookies,” submission forms, surveys, and other technologies and techniques as described below.

Collected Information can include name, postal address, telephone, email, zip code, as well as demographic and behavioral associations and traits. The information collected is used for statistical reporting, to determine the effectiveness of the website’s content, programs and advertisements, to “personalize” your experience on the City of Eureka’s websites, including http://www.visiteureka.com, by providing targeted advertising and/or promotional campaigns, and to contact visitors and potential visitors and to send promotional materials.

By visiting this website and/or submitting information to us, you hereby consent to its collection and use in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Visitors also have the option of discontinuing participation in our mailing lists or programs, editing or updating their personally identifiable information and can do so by contacting us. This website used a variety of tools and techniques to serve each visitor with custom content curated for their enjoyment. It is also designed to collect visitor information so that information about the city can be shared again even after a visitor leaves this website.

We reserve the right to share that information with partners as well as third-party sponsors of the contests, sweepstakes, raffles, games or similar promotions. This information is subject to usage outlined in “Information Collection & Treatment,” above. Visitors should carefully review the rules of each contest, sweepstakes, raffle, game or similar promotion in which they participate. The extent that the terms and conditions of those rules concerning treatment of your personally identifiable information conflict with this Privacy Policy, the terms and conditions of those rules will control.

Cookies and Other Technologies
To help us serve our visitors to the best of our ability, we collect non-personally identifiable information, including traffic data and information that identifies visitor computer or browser IDs. Cookies are pieces of information placed in the settings of your web browser by a website server to identify your computer when you return to a website. VisitEureka’s website currently does not respond to “do not track” signals or other mechanisms that provide consumers a choice regarding the collection of personally identifiable information about an individual consumer’s online activities over time and across third-party online services.

Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. If it is included, visitors to the website may be able to download and extract location data from images on the website.

Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Comments

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Security
We use reasonable security measures to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information collected via our website and under our control so that you can feel comfortable and secure when using the site. Notwithstanding the precautions that we take, we cannot guarantee the security of information that you transmit to us, and shall not be liable for any failure to safeguard your information, whether inadvertent or otherwise.

Disclosure for Legal Purposes
We may be required to share your personally identifiable information and non-personally identifiable information pursuant to judicial or governmental subpoenas, warrants or orders. If we are legally required to do so, or, in good faith believe that we are legally required to do so, we will obey the law. In addition, we reserve the right to use, disclose and share your personal and non-personal information in order to promote the offerings of our city, and to investigate, prevent or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person or as otherwise required by law.

Disclaimer Concerning Third Parties
We may provide certain personally identifiable information to our partners. Furthermore, we may retain other companies and individuals to perform functions on our behalf. Examples include financial institutions, consumer e-mail service providers, web data tracking specialists and reservation booking engines.

VisitEureka’s website contains links to other websites. The City of Eureka and their Agency of Record, Eddy Alexander, have no control over the content exhibited on these sites, or the administration of them. Use of such sites is subject to each site’s unique privacy policy.

Opt-In/Opt-Out
You may choose to remove yourself from our mailing list by completing our online Feedback Form, clicking the embedded opt-out link and/or replying to any email sent to you, or by sending a request to info@eddyalexander.com With Eureka Opt-Out in the subject line.

Special Note Concerning Persons Under The Age of 18
Our online services are not directed toward persons under the age of 18, and we request that persons under the age of 18 not provide personally identifiable information to us nor participate in any contests or promotions designed to capture visitor information.
